SIA Connect 2.0.0

A new Edge Portal is now the default. Same SIA Connect underneath. The previous portal stays available for a while: switch to it in the UI, or open /edge-portal-legacy directly.

New Edge Portal

After sign-in you land on Overview: industrial vs cloud/database instances, license and trial, CPU/memory/storage, software versions, logs, restart, and reboot. Workspace, Configuration, Data interfaces, and Tools sit in one sidebar.

• Live faults in the header, with a click-through to Events
• Discover: scan a network or a device and import what you find
• Discover items: browse tags on an existing instance, with live sample values, then import the ones you want
• Instances by category (Industrial, Cloud & APIs, Databases). Edit items in a table or a full dialog, clone, CSV import/export of configuration, export stored values
• Install connectors from the catalog or a .sia file, then add an instance from the card
• OPC UA Server has its own page (wizard, node tree, live values)
• Local users: administrator or operator, without using the device PIN as a login
• App Hub and Grafana from the portal
• Data Flow is experimental
• Light, dark, or system theme. System follows the OS

Events and notifications

This is the alarm inbox on the gateway. Instance down, item error, mapping error, license capacity, watchdog, restart required, update available.

• Header: active notifications and banners (connection lost, trial, action required). Click through to the instance, item, or mapping
• Severity: information, warning, critical
• Events page: full history of each condition (detected, updated, dismissed, muted, resolved)
• Dismiss hides it from the shared inbox. Mute stops repeats for 1 hour, 8 hours, a day, or a week (optional reason). They are not the same action
• Restart-required events can restart the device from the notification if your role allows it
• Search, filter (24 h / 7 d / 30 d), bulk actions, export CSV
• History stays on the gateway. Default retention 90 days or 10,000 events unless you set your own in Advanced settings

Discover

Two jobs: find connection targets (Discover instances), then find data points inside one instance (Discover items). Update connectors to the latest version, or Discover stays hidden.

• Start instance discovery from Instances and select All to scan the enabled Connectors in that category, or select one Connector to configure an individual scan. You can also start discovery from an installed Connector.
• Start item discovery from that instance's Items view. The instance must be online
• Set connector-specific parameters (scan duration, interface, ports, and similar), then search. Cancel if you need to stop
• Review candidates before Add selected. Statuses include available, already added, and conflict
• Results can show name, address, unit, read/write, sample value, and connector parameters. Search and page the list
• Unsupported or incomplete candidates are listed, not forced in
• Some protocols pause their normal I/O while a scan runs
• In this release: Siemens, BACnet, OPC UA, MQTT, MELSEC, Beckhoff, Omron, CAMP, M-Bus, and others

Identity tags

When the connector provides them, items can show who and what the device is, without using a license slot.

• Badges for vendor, model, serial, firmware, hardware type, and similar fields the connector reports
• Add your own labels on top
• They appear on the item after the instance exists.
• Extra items over license capacity stay configured but inactive. Identity tags do not count toward that limit

Users

User management of all the local users on SIA Connect.

• Administrators configure
• Operators monitor without changing configuration
• The device PIN is the pairing passphrase for protected user-management, not the account password

Data Flow

An experimental canvas of instances and mappings. Opt-in. Unfinished.

• Shows how data moves between instances and items
• Do not depend on it for production work

OPC UA Server

Expose items from other instances to OPC UA clients on a dedicated page under Data Interfaces, not the generic instance form. Connector 0.2.0 or newer is required.

• Wizard for simple configuration flow
• Security modes None, Sign, and Sign & Encrypt. Several modes and policies can be enabled at once so clients can pick a combination
• User authentication with certificates
• Anonymous user is off by default. Endpoint URLs are shown as opc.tcp://address:port
• Server Node Tree: folders (with namespace on root folders), data nodes mapped from items on other instances, methods with inputs and outputs
• Adding a node also creates the mapping from the source item
• Search, expand/collapse, and bulk delete in the tree
• Live values: mapped nodes update when the source items change. Confirm from an OPC UA client against a listed endpoint

Improvements

• License: extra items stay configured but inactive until you free a slot or expand. Identity tags do not count
• Store-and-forward per mapping: latest value (new default), FIFO, LIFO, or sporadic
• Network link settings follow what the Ethernet port supports
• Watchdog can restart a frozen Core
• Safer remote ping and system commands
• New connectors in this train: Siemens S7 Plus, Keyence KV, Cumulocity

Before you update

• App Hub moves from port 8000 to 8100. Use /apphub. HTTP only
• Check store-and-forward on existing buffered mappings. They are set to sporadic on upgrade
• After update, sign in at /. If the page looks old, hard-refresh the browser
