Browser requirements for the Edge Portal
Learn which browsers you can use to access the Edge Portal and which browser settings are required.
The Edge Portal is a web application that runs in your browser. Use a current browser on a computer that can reach the SIA Connect device over the network.
For the best security, compatibility, and performance, keep the browser updated to its latest stable version.
Supported browser families
The current Edge Portal is built for the following browser families:
| Browser | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Google Chrome | Use the latest stable version. |
| Microsoft Edge | Use the latest stable version. |
| Mozilla Firefox | Use the latest stable version. |
| Apple Safari | Use the latest stable version available for your operating system. |
Other modern Chromium-based browsers, such as Opera, may also work. They are not part of the browser baseline defined by the current Edge Portal framework.
Internet Explorer and other discontinued or outdated browsers are not supported.
Required browser settings
Make sure the browser allows the following features for the Edge Portal:
- JavaScript - Required to load and use the interface.
- Cookies and local site storage - Used for the signed-in session and interface preferences.
- New tabs and pop-ups - Required when opening tools such as Logs, App Hub, Dashboards, and some remote-access services.
You can use the main Edge Portal without internet access when your computer has a local network connection to SIA Connect. Features that contact external services still require internet access from the relevant device or browser.
Open the Edge Portal
- Connect your computer to the same network as SIA Connect.
- Open a supported browser.
- Enter the current IP address or hostname of SIA Connect in the browser address bar.
- Sign in with your Edge Portal username and password.
After signing in, the Overview page opens.
Troubleshoot browser problems
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| The page is blank, incomplete, or behaves unexpectedly. | Update the browser, reload the page, and try again. You can also open the user menu and select Refresh cache. |
| You are returned to the sign-in page or cannot remain signed in. | Allow cookies and local site storage for the Edge Portal. Avoid private browsing while testing the connection. |
| A tool does not open in a new tab. | Allow pop-ups and new tabs from the Edge Portal address, then try again. |
| The browser cannot reach the Edge Portal. | Confirm that the computer and SIA Connect are connected to the same network. Check the address and network settings before changing browser settings. |
| The problem occurs in only one browser. | Test the latest version of another supported browser. Disable browser extensions that block scripts, storage, or local network access if your organization permits it. |
