The Connectors page is the central place for finding communication drivers, installing them, managing their status and supporting files, and creating instances. A Connector defines how SIA Connect communicates with an industrial device, cloud service, API, or database.

Open the Connectors page

  1. Sign in to the Edge Portal.
  2. Open Configuration.
  3. Select Connectors.

The architecture badge shows the detected system architecture. The repository uses this information to select a matching package.

Understand the page

The page combines installed Connectors with Connectors available from the online repository. They are grouped into Industrial Connectors, Database, and Cloud services.

Summary Meaning
Installed Connectors installed on this system.
In Repository Connectors available for installation.
Updates Installed Connectors with a newer repository version.
Instances Total instances configured across installed Connectors.

Find a Connector

Search connectors searches installed Connectors and repository entries by names, titles, descriptions, tags, instance names, and addresses. You can filter by installation state, enabled state, or category, and sort by name, instance count, or available updates.

Install a Connector from the repository

Repository installation requires the Edge Portal to reach the online Connector repository.

  1. Find a Connector with the Repository status.
  2. Select Install.
  3. Wait while the package is downloaded and installed.
  4. Confirm that its status changes to Installed.

If Install is unavailable, no downloadable package was found for the Connector and system architecture.

Install a Connector manually

  1. Select Click to manually install connector.
  2. Select Upload connector.
  3. Choose the Connector package with the .sia extension.
  4. Wait for the upload to reach 100%.
  5. Keep the page open while the package is installed.
  6. Confirm the success message and installed status.

If you do not have the package, select Download connectors to open the Connector download library.

Manage installed Connectors

Action or status What it does
Enable Starts a disabled Connector and allows its instances to run.
Disable Stops the Connector and all its instances until enabled again.
Update Downloads and installs the latest available version.
Uninstall Removes the Connector after confirmation.
License required A required Connector-specific license is not present.
Invalid interface The Connector is incompatible with the active Connector interface.

You can select multiple installed Connectors and use the bulk-action bar to disable or uninstall them. Each Connector is processed individually, and the portal reports succeeded and failed actions.

Add or view instances

Select Add instance on an installed Connector, complete the displayed settings, and save. For the OPC UA Server Connector, the action is labelled Add server.

Expand Instances on a Connector to see its configured instances. Select an instance name to open its configuration, or use the view action to inspect its status, parameters, items, and mappings.

Discover instances

Discover instances only appears for Connectors that support automatic discovery. The Connector must be enabled.

  1. Select Discover instances on the Connector.
  2. Configure any requested discovery parameters.
  3. Select Search instances.
  4. Wait for completion, or select Cancel search.
  5. Filter and review the candidates.
  6. Select the available candidates you want to add.
  7. Select Add selected.

Candidate statuses are Available, Added, Already added, Conflict, and Not importable.

You can also start from an Instances category. Select All to browse every enabled, discovery-capable Connector in that category using its default settings, or select one Connector to customize its discovery parameters. See Discover instances and items for the complete workflow.

Add and manage Connector files

The Files section only appears for Connectors that support files. Use it for certificates, keys, configuration files, and other required assets.

  1. Expand Files.
  2. Select Upload file.
  3. Enter a Title.
  4. Optionally enter a description.
  5. Assign the file to all devices or one instance.
  6. Choose the file and select Upload file.

See Manage and configure Connector files and certificates for full instructions.

If the repository is unavailable

Installed Connectors remain visible when the online repository cannot be loaded. Repository searches, installations, and updates may be unavailable until internet access is restored. Manual installation remains available when you have the required .sia package.
