Manage advanced settings
Learn how to change the Edge Portal advanced settings and understand how each value affects memory, processing, storage, and notification history.
Use Advanced settings to adjust how SIA Connect uses memory, processes data, protects free storage, and retains notification history.
These settings can affect performance, resource use, stored data, and software availability. Record the current value before changing it, and change one setting at a time so you can identify the effect.
Open Advanced settings
- Sign in to the Edge Portal.
- Expand Configuration in the sidebar.
- Select System.
- Expand Advanced settings if the section is collapsed.
The section displays the current value and unit for each available setting. If a setting has no value, the portal displays N/A.
Change an advanced setting
- Find the setting you want to change.
- Select its edit button, or double-click the setting row.
- Enter the new value. For settings that display a unit, enter the value without adding the unit text.
- Select the check button to save the value.
- Confirm that the editor closes and the updated value appears in the list.
Select the cancel button to discard the value you entered and keep the current setting.
The Edge Portal refreshes the Advanced settings list after a successful save. It does not display a restart prompt. If the SIA Connect API marks a setting as read-only, the edit button is not available and double-clicking the row has no effect.
Understand the available settings

Choose values carefully
The Edge Portal does not define numeric ranges or show field-specific validation rules for these settings. Use values appropriate for the gateway's workload and available resources.
- Change one value at a time.
- Keep a record of the original value.
- Monitor CPU, memory, and storage on Workspace > Overview after changing a performance or resource setting.
- Check the notification history after changing either notification-retention setting.
- Avoid reducing the low-space buffer below the minimum shown in the UI guidance for SIA Connect hardware.
Troubleshoot Advanced settings

| Loading advanced settings... remains displayed | Wait for the page to finish loading. If it does not finish, reload the page and check that the Edge Portal can communicate with the SIA Connect API. |
| Failed to load advanced settings. | Reload the page. If the message returns, resolve any gateway or API communication warning before trying again. |
| No edit button is available | The setting is read-only according to the SIA Connect API. It cannot be changed from this page. |
| Failed to save setting. Please try again. | Check the entered value and try again. The UI does not provide a more specific validation message, so restore the previous value if the new value is not accepted. |
| The value is shown as N/A | The setting was not returned by the API or its value is empty. Reload the page. If it remains unavailable, check the gateway software and API status. |
| A saved value does not appear | Reload the page and check the setting again. If it still shows the previous value, enter it again and confirm the save button before leaving the editor. |
