The System page shows the identity, installed versions, gateway time, and browser-local time for the SIA Connect installation. Depending on the setting permissions returned by the gateway, you can also change the system name, description, and time zone, or synchronize the gateway clock with your computer.

Open the System page

  1. Sign in to the Edge Portal.
  2. Expand Configuration in the sidebar.
  3. Select System.
  4. Expand the first panel if it is collapsed.

The first panel is named after the configured system Name. It displays SIA Connect when no name is available.

Understand the system information

Setting or value What it does Editable
Name Provides a recognizable name for the SIA Connect installation. The name is also used as the title of the system information panel. When allowed by the gateway.
Description Stores a short description that helps identify the installation, location, purpose, or connected equipment. When allowed by the gateway.
Time zone Selects the time zone used to display System time. Regional options can account for local time-zone rules. Fixed UTC and GMT offsets are also available. When allowed by the gateway.
System version Shows the installed system update or release version reported by the gateway. No.
UUID Shows the unique identifier of the SIA Connect installation. It is used for licensing, support, remote management, and other gateway-specific workflows. No. The value can be copied.
Software version Shows the installed SIA Connect software version. Depending on the version information returned by the gateway, this can be based on the software version or the core and library versions. No.
UI version Shows the installed Edge Portal user-interface version. No.
Additional component versions Shows other component versions returned by the gateway, such as API or Shadow API versions. No.
System time Shows the gateway clock converted to the selected system time zone. Changed through clock synchronization rather than inline editing.
Local time Shows the same gateway clock converted to the time zone detected from your browser. The browser time-zone name is displayed beside the value. No.

The page displays N/A when a value is missing or unavailable. It can display Loading... while the time-zone or browser information is being retrieved.

Edit the system name or description

An edit control appears only when the gateway marks the setting as editable.

  1. Point to Name or Description.
  2. Select the edit control. You can also double-click the row.
  3. Enter the new value.
  4. Select the checkmark to save the value.

Select the X control to discard the unsaved value and leave editing mode.

The Edge Portal does not apply a visible length or character validation rule to these two fields. The gateway can still reject a value that it does not accept.

Choose the system time zone

  1. Point to Time zone.
  2. Select the edit control or double-click the row.
  3. Open Select time zone.
  4. Select the required region or UTC/GMT offset.
  5. Select the checkmark to save the setting.

Select the X control to keep the currently saved time zone.

For locations that use daylight-saving time, select the appropriate named region, such as Copenhagen, London, New York, or Sydney. Use a fixed UTC or GMT offset only when the installation must remain on that offset throughout the year.

Changing the time zone changes how System time is displayed. It does not change the Local time row because Local time uses the browser's detected time zone.

Understand System time and Local time

Both rows are calculated from the gateway's current clock, but they use different time zones:

  • System time uses the time zone saved on the SIA Connect installation.
  • Local time uses the time zone detected by the browser you are currently using.

The values can differ when you manage a gateway in another country or when your computer uses a different time zone. A difference between these rows does not by itself mean that the gateway clock is incorrect.

If no valid system time zone has been saved, System time displays N/A. Select a time zone before checking or synchronizing the clock.

Synchronize the gateway clock

The Sync clock with this computer action sets the gateway clock to the current date and time supplied by your computer.

  1. Confirm that the computer's date, time, and time zone are correct.
  2. Select Sync clock with this computer.
  3. Wait while the button displays Synchronizing clock.…

The clock synchronization action is available for native SIA Connect installations. It is not shown when SIA Connect itself is running as a Docker deployment.

Synchronizing the clock and selecting a time zone are separate operations. Clock synchronization updates the underlying time. The time-zone setting controls how that time is displayed as System time.

Copy the UUID

  1. Find UUID in the system information.
  2. Select the copy control beside the value.
  3. Confirm the message UUID copied to clipboard.

If the UUID is unavailable, the value displays N/A and the copy control is not shown.

Understand editable and read-only settings

The gateway determines whether Name, Description, and Time zone can be changed. An editable row shows an edit control when you point to it and can be opened by double-clicking.

If a row has no edit control, it is read-only for the current installation or software configuration. Version, UUID, System time, and Local time values are always shown as information rather than inline settings.

Troubleshoot system settings and time

Message or symptom What to do
Failed to load system information Check communication with the gateway and refresh the page. The message also includes the error returned while loading the information.
A setting does not show an edit control The gateway has marked the setting as read-only. Sign in with an account that has sufficient settings permissions and confirm that the installation allows the setting to be edited.
The saved value does not appear Refresh the page and try again. Check gateway communication and your settings permissions if the value still does not change.
System time displays N/A Select and save a valid system time zone. If a time zone is already selected, refresh the system information and check that the gateway is returning a valid clock value.
System time differs from Local time Compare the selected system time zone with the browser time zone shown beside Local time. Choose the intended system region or offset if it is incorrect.
The time is wrong by one hour Use a named regional time zone when daylight-saving rules should apply. A fixed UTC or GMT offset does not follow regional daylight-saving changes.
Failed to synchronize the system clock. Check communication with the gateway and your settings permissions. Confirm that the computer clock is valid, then try again.
The clock synchronization action is missing The action is not displayed when SIA Connect itself runs as a Docker deployment.
Failed to copy UUID. Allow clipboard access in the browser or select and copy the UUID manually.
