The Network page lets you change the gateway hostname and configure its available Ethernet and wireless interfaces. You can enable or disable an interface, use DHCP or a manual IP configuration, set DNS servers, select supported Ethernet link modes, and enter Wi-Fi connection details.

Open the Network page

1. Sign in to the Edge Portal.
2. In the sidebar, expand Configuration.
3. Select Network.

The page shows the gateway hostname followed by a card for each available network interface. An interface card identifies the interface as wired or wireless and shows whether it is enabled.

Review Network events

Select Events at the top of the Network page to open the Network events dialog. The dialog contains the event history for internet connectivity detection, dismissal, and recovery.

When an active Network event requires attention, the button changes to Events (number). The number is the current active-event count.

Each history entry can show whether the condition is active, detected, dismissed, changed, or resolved. Resolved entries show when the condition was detected, when it was resolved, and how long it lasted.

Users with permission to edit notifications can select Clear history. Completed entries are permanently removed. Active conditions and their lifecycle events remain until the underlying condition is resolved.

Change the hostname

The hostname identifies the gateway on the network. The default hostname for a new device is sia-connect-<device_UUID>.

1. In the Hostname card, enter the new hostname.
2. Select Set hostname.
3. When the restart prompt appears, select Restart device.
4. Confirm the device restart.

The new hostname takes effect only after the gateway restarts. The hostname cannot be empty.

View an interface configuration

Each interface card shows its MAC address. When the interface is enabled, the card also shows its current IP address, configuration method, subnet mask, and any configured gateway and DNS servers. A wireless interface also shows its SSID.

Change an interface configuration

1. Find the required Ethernet or wireless interface.
2. Select Edit.
3. Change the required parameters.
4. Select Save changes.

After a successful update, the Edge Portal displays Network configuration saved and closes the edit dialog. If the address used by your browser has changed, reconnect to the gateway at its new address.

Available parameters

Choose DHCP or Manual

DHCP

Select DHCP when a DHCP server should assign the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway. These three fields become read-only in the dialog. You can still specify the DNS servers.

Manual

Select Manual when the gateway must use a fixed network configuration. Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway supplied by your network administrator. DNS servers can also be entered manually.

Configure the Ethernet link mode

For a wired interface, the Link mode field can include:

• Auto-negotiation - Lets the interface negotiate a compatible speed and duplex mode with the connected network equipment.
• Manual speed and duplex modes - Uses a specific supported mode, such as a reported Mb/s or Gb/s speed with half or full duplex.

If the interface driver does not report configurable modes, the Edge Portal displays that link mode editing is unavailable. In this case, the link mode cannot be changed from the page.

Configure a wireless interface

Enable the wireless interface, select DHCP or Manual, and complete the same address fields used by other interfaces. Then enter the Wi-Fi network name, key, and encryption type in Wireless configuration.

Make sure the selected encryption type matches the Wi-Fi network. Choosing None configures an unencrypted network and does not require a security method.

Troubleshoot network changes

The Edge Portal no longer opens after saving

The interface address may have changed or the configured values may not be reachable from your computer. Connect using the new IP address you noted before saving. If necessary, restore the gateway's default network configuration.

The hostname does not change

Restart the device after selecting Set hostname. The saved hostname does not take effect until the restart completes.

Link mode cannot be selected

The field is available only when the wired interface driver reports configurable link modes. Use the interface's existing link configuration when no options are reported.

The page cannot load the interfaces

Reload the page. If Failed to load network interfaces remains visible, verify that the gateway is reachable and try again.

Saving fails

The Edge Portal displays the error returned by the gateway or Failed to save network configuration. Check the entered values, confirm that the gateway is reachable, and try again.

Event history cannot be loaded

Select Events again. If Event history could not be loaded remains visible, verify the gateway connection and review the system logs.
